The Pantone Colour Institute has announced PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse as the Colour of the Year 2025, a warm, soft brown evoking feelings of comfort, indulgence, and connection to nature.

This choice reflects a global cultural shift towards harmony, balance, and sustainable living, mirroring a desire for thoughtful pleasures and a deeper connection with the natural world.

Mocha Mousse's earthy tones and organic nature symbolize stability, grounding, and authenticity, aligning with the growing trend of incorporating natural pigments and materials into design.

Unlike fleeting trends, this versatile colour serves as a timeless neutral, complementing diverse palettes and applications across various industries, from fashion to interior design.

The selection of Mocha Mousse signifies a move towards seasonless shades and a slower consumption cycle, emphasizing the colour's inherent sophistication and ability to harmonize with an ever-changing world.

Pantone's Mocha Mousse is a versatile, warm brown share that pairs beautifully with various colours. Combinations below can help you create stylish and harmonious looks. This is also a great base colour for autumns, so don't be afraid to use it as your neutral all year long.

Since this is a soft, warm colour, I will start with a colour combination for Autumns

Gulf Coast is a rich teal that adds a vibrant, yet grounded contrast.

Pureed Pumpkin is a warm, deep orange that completements the earthy tones and Green Olive is and earthy green that harmonize with the autumn colour.

If you are an Autumn and know your palette, you can combine this soft, earthy tone with any colours from your palette. I like to pair with a mustard too or tomato red.

For Summers, this is less flattering colour, but still can be used, especially if you belong to Soft subgroup.

These combinations create a cohesive and flattering look, emphasizing balance between muted coolness and gentle warmth. Don't be afraid to combine with a soft, subdued green with hint of coolness, or delicate lavender shade or even with a pastel blue creating calming contrast. You can use Mocha Mousse as an accessory too, such as bags or shoes or belts.

Since Mocha Mousse is a warm colour, people who belong to Spring, can wear this colour as their neutral, especially during cold months.

Springs in general need vibrant, live colours, so this is not their best one. I would pair Mocha Mousse with Cannoli Cream to balance earthy tones of the colour of the year. Together they create a subtle, calm and natural aesthetic. Mocha Mousse and Peach Cobbler completements the vibrant, peachy orange, creating a harmonious a lively combination. Pink Lemonade is a bold and vibrant colour, but together with Mocha Mousse creates a playful contrast, where the brown acts as a stabilizer, allowing the bring pink to pop without overwhelming.

Mocha Mousse is for Winter types the least flattering colour. You can wear this colour away from face or as an accent, but I would avoid it at all.

Although, you can pair it with a classic winter colour, Navy blue that complements the warmth of Mocha Mousse. Emerald Green adds a vibrant, jewel-toned contrast and Plum, a deep, rich purple that pairs elegantly with Mocha Mousse.

I hope you found these colour combinations helpful, and you will enjoy experiencing with this soft brown colour.
